Filming, and Issues.

 At the time of writing this blog we filmed two days ago. For starters, it was extremely difficult, we came across technical difficulties. Some were very minor, like videos not saving to Major issues like the Nintendo-Switch dying. What can we do to prevent these issues? One could be, bringing the device that charges the Nintendo-Switch, and Two research the filming restrictions that the Nintendo-Switch brings. How are we going to Counter-Act this? Simple, find ways to bypass filming restrictions, and two bring a second Nintendo-Switch just in case the first one dies and we can’t do anything about it. Our filing issues didn’t come in vain though, we were able to record 2 clips to make up the first 6 seconds of our advertisement. Me and my group-mates will definitely be able to finish this by the selected due date. We film again tomorrow, this time we’re more prepared and organized so we shouldn’t face any issues. Another issue that arised was timing, We didn’t have much time to film but we’re glad we got to make it work. What i was really happy for is that we were able to record in that spot we wanted to. I like working with my partners they obviously try their best and hardest to make stuff work and it’s clear. We’re trying to the best of our abilities to follow the story-board. The two people playing the games are my Partners, Chad and Jason. The first game we decided to do was SUPER SMASH BEOS ULTIMATE. The next plan is to show off single player games, I think we’re going to do BoTW or Mario Oddesessy. My main position is camera man, so i’m not doing much acting, but i’ll definitely help with editing and whatever other miscellaneous task. I’m a little anxious about how the ad is going to turn out but hopefully we can finish in time. Editing is going to be super easy in my opinion though, there’s no talking and we just have to splice in footage of the game and outside aspects.  

Storyboarding

 Our group that consists of Jason, Sebastian, and I will feature the Nintendo Switch and all its features. Now our commercial will start with the iconic nintendo switch intro. This is found on all of nintendo switch's commercial intros. It lasts around 2 seconds so this will not take up any filming time that we need. The next panel is where we look at the nintendo switch game menu. This menu will have to showcase to the viewer what the games you can play. In this scene, we will also be entering a game and showing small gameplay. The third scene will show us playing a game together with the screen. This scene is meant to showcase how everyone can play together at the same time. This scene can also show a game being played and what to do which is promoting both the console and the game. The fourth scene will showcase what the game will look like when the console is in handheld mode. This mode is when the controllers are inside the console and its made to be able to play for one person. The type of game we can show can be a one player game so it will promote that too. The fifth scene will showcase the switch's portability. As seen in scene 3, the switch can be taken out of the dock and played outside of the dock. Scene 5 will show someone moving around with the switch outside and probably put it away. As the guy walks away with the switch, the outro will play. This outro will be the nintendo logo. This logo is found in everyone of their commercials. This way we figured that putting both the specific intro and outro will make this commercial seem more authentich .

Ideas!

 Our group is planning to make a commercial on the Nintendo Switch about its games and functions. We will have a multitude of shots to showcase what the switch is all about. We really want to focus on the quality of the games and how they're played. We will speak no words and instead have music playing in the background. This music will be from one of the many switch games that we have available. Our choices are from The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, which is a open world exploration game. Another choice would possibly be Super Mario Odyssey. This game is another open world adventure, but you get to travel to multiple worlds. Our last option would be Pokémon sword and shield. This game is about catching cute monsters to fight on the way to become the Pokémon champion. In the beginning of the video, we will put the famous switch clip. This clip is about the Nintendo switch out of place, but then put right back into the right place with a sound effect. Then we plan to make it seem like we're having as much fun as possible with the Nintendo switches. It will start with us taking the switch outside of the dock. The switch will turn on and then we will start playing. We will have multiple locations which we will record. One of our locations will be on a couch, as we all sit down buddy buddy playing a game. We also plan to have multiple actors instead of just the three of us. This will replicate the Nintendo switch commercials we researched. With our multiple scenes and captivating game play, we should have no problem with this comercial.

Research, Research and more Research

 Our group decided on creating a Nintendo Switch commercial. In order to do this, we researched multiple Nintendo Switch commercials. We saw the shots they used and the various locations that were taking place. We also researched the various games that are popular with the switch and that we could use for our trailer. We are now familiar with Nintendo switch commercials. We took notes and ways on how we can make our commercial similar or just as good. We noticed certain shots we'd like and wrote it down on our notes. We also researched the technology behind the Switch. We wanted to know if this powerful console had enough content on it to make a commercial. Now we're starting to plan our project with the games, shots, and locations. We also researched how the actors behave and what games they used. While completing our research we realized the resources we'd need as we planned ahead. As all three of us watched trailers we have a few ideas on what our commercial should look like. This research allowed us to expand more on what we should have as our final product. While researching we learned the different ways we can outline our commercial. We noticed the way the these companies outline their own trailers. We will use these skills effectively to form a proper commercial. The shots taken and the dynamics shown in these commercials have shown us what we should aim for. These commercials have given us a way to perceive our first ever commercial. We will further look into these commercials and take note of minor details that could drastically improve our own commercial for the Nintendo Switch.

Group Blog

 Hello, for this group project I will be working by myself. I don’t think it’s a big deal. I feel like i can work by myself and provide the necessary footage without the help of my peers. it may be a little challenge-some. Even though, i’m not the greatest at art and story boarding, I am semi decent at scripting. I’ve tried before to make a concept script so I feel like I have some sort of experience. A great benefit that I have with working by myself is that i can go on my own pace and not have to worry about another students schedule. Truth be told it will be extremely tiresome to carry this entire project on my back but it’s not impossible. What I hope to accomplish by myself a solid and cohesive project that will be enjoyable to watch and send my message very well, as of right now i don’t have any ideas for my future project but it’s fine as I have tomorrow to brainstorm. I will be able to draw the story board by myself, film by myself and finish the project. I may need help from my friends to act in my commercial but it’s nothing i can’t deal with. Of course the project is going to be more difficult because i’m by myself but, it’ll definitely be manageable. It’s a little difficult to write about a “group blog” when i’m not in a group but yeah. My strengths are definitely time management and scripting. My initial idea for my project it to make an ad about video games, i don’t know who it would work in a school setting, if i’ll be allowed to or not. If i can’t do the after-mentioned i’ll probably do an ad for food, maybe some chip brand. If both of the plans fall out i’ll be able to do some sort of adventure marketing towards clothing. I will definitely have something planned tomorrow though. I’m by myself but i’m super excited to participate. Well this is the end of my blog, i can’t wait to start my project.

Intro Blog

       Hello, I am Sebastian Suarez-Espino; I’m 15 years old and I’m taking this class because I’m interested in Media Studies. I love movies, but more importantly I love what comes with making them. My favorite films have to be Buster’s Mal Heart, School of Rock, and The Runaways. What I want to accomplish in this class is learn the proper tools and terminology to create a short film the way I envision. I am of hispanic descent, I have an older sibling, and two loving parents. My biggest dream is to make a film that envisions I and my parents culture while mixing my own interests. I hope with this class i will be able to further my creativity and love for film making. If i was able to i would make a movie with my favorite music artists, maybe centered around them (E.X, Joan Jett and Rob Zombie). I feel like I will be able to really flourish in this class in general, I’ll definitely try my best. Disregarding what i said prior, i would love to make a film like “No Country for Old Men” featuring Javier Bardem the emotions put behind the movie and the acting was great. The types of films I prefer are usually the more darker/serious ones, but, with films like The School of Rock I can’t help but to love it with Jack Blacks great acting and the punk-rock inspiration it’s hard to resist. Admittedly I enjoy a plethora movies, from as dumb as “The Big Lewboski” to as serious as The Dark-knight trilogy, I don’t mean to sound pretentious but, I enjoy movies so much. Here i’m going to attach a clip from one of my favorite films “No Country for Old Men” : 

This shows an amazing amount of acting a camera work from both actors. It’s honestly amazing what they did which such a small space, and even with anton not yelling and being violent you can tell he’s still very much a threat. A film like No Country for Old Men is something I want to produce when i’m older. I hope i’m given the chance to get better at film making with this class. I am honestly looking forward to starting my project and to start creating my creative prowess. That’s going to be the end of my first blog, thank you.
